Our current sauna model can comfortably hold 6 people and a maximum of 8-10 close friends. Our sauna has two booth seats that can comfortably sit one person in each or 2 close friends in each.
Yes of course! There is plenty of seating around the fire for anyone to come and go. Feel welcome to hang out, meet some people and have some interesting conversations. Alternatively, pull out a book or podcast and earbuds and get some quiet time to yourself. Our space encourages wellness in whatever form you may need it.
Some of our events are multi-faceted and not always centered around the Sauna experience. There may be something for you here even if you don't want to go in. Keep an eye out for yoga classes or music sessions which keep our hub active outside of the sauna.
We also have tea and coffee to offer at most of our events.
We try to keep the sauna around 150-180 degrees Fahrenheit.
The sauna can momentarily jump up in heat with a few splashes of water on the rocks as desired. We ask anyone who wishes to use the water to first ask permission from other users in the sauna.
In the future we may run certain sessions as a 'not so hot' hour for anyone who is more sensitive to the heat. Let us know if you're into that idea and we can make arrangements
Everyone's body and sensativities are unique and we encourage you to experience Sauna Social however you are most comfortable. Some prefer more or less heat in the sauna and some are more adventurous with a cold water rinse off or plunge. However you decide to interact with our offerings, here is our general guideline for a 60 min session with us:
1. Arrive & Prepare for the Sauna:
Arrive at least 15-30 min in advance of your session start time. Use this time to check in with our staff and use our changerooms to get into your bathing suit and otherwise prepare for the Sauna
Make sure to drink water before going in
We recommend taking a shower before entering the sauna
2. Your first round - 5-10 min:
Enter the sauna quickly and quiety. Make sure to open and close the door as fast as possible to reduce the amount of heat escaping the sauna. If you are waiting for someone, remember not to awkwardly hold the door open for them
Place your towel down between you and the bench
Sit and take in the heat. Remember to breath and keep drinking water
Dont push it too much on your first round. Your body is just getting used to the experience and you dont want to overdo it
Leave the sauna for your first break swiftly and quietly. Be causious about slipping on your way out!
We recomend just getting cold air on your first round. Be causious about cold plunging or splashing water on your first round as you climatize your body.
We recomend about 5 min of air to cool off before returning. Drink more water while you're out for a break!
3. Your second round - 10-15 min
Go back in for another round when your ready. We recommend staying in for a little longer this time.
After 10-15 min, prepare to go out and start a cold water cycle.
We recommend going out and splashing cold water on yourself after your second round. Its a bit of a shock because its your first time getting really cold. But trust me, it gets easier after you take that plunge.
If you can bare it, take a break outside after your cold plunge. Your body will appreciate the cool down before another hot session.
4. More rounds - 10-15 min
Each subsequent round is entirely up to you. We recommend sticking with the cycle of hot and cold as described. 10-15 min of sauna heat followed by a cold plunge and 5-10 min of fresh air.
At some point in your hour session,it's nice to stay outside for 10 or 15 min to really cool down. After that, going back into the sauna doesn't feel nearly as hot as it did in your first round.
You should get 3-5 hot and cold rounds in an hour.
5. End of session chill
After your last round, take a show and rinse yourself off thoroughly before changing.
Feel free to find a seat around the fire and relax for as long as you need before leaving. The whole experience can really calm your whole body, mind and energy, so we recommend taking a moment to re-calibrate before driving off.
